Excellent hike to a 100 year old quartz mine (c. 1905). Moderately strenuous with 900 ft of elevation gain in 1.6 miles. Trail climbs steadily from Vallecito wash to the mine. South face of Granite mountain with fabulous views to the east and south. Not so common hedgehog cactus is pervasive here.
